Day 1

I created this blog to share my experience with the Daniel Fast. I decided to embark upon this journey when I learned about biblical fasting. These posts will all be written from my point of view and detailing my personal experiences with the fast.

I've been researching a lot about the fast online via the Google search engine. To learn more, I also purchased a book called The Daniel Fast; Feed your Soul, strengthen your spirit, and renew your body. I am doing this fast to renew my mind, body, and spirit. I think our hearts and minds can get "sick" and the bible gives us a method to feed our spirits and give us a fresh new start. Fasting is done throughout the bible. Many people, including Jesus, used this as a spiritual discipline. I want to rekindle my relationship with my Lord and I am confident the next 21 days will bring me much closer to Him. The definition of a Biblical fast is "to restrict food for a spiritual purpose."

I get overwhelmed when I think about what I cannot have. My body craves the sugar, fine meats and wines. Then, I read the first few chapters of the book of Daniel and realize that if he can do it, I can do it. Along with the spiritual component of the fast, there are amazing health benefits (your body). Our culture is full of artificial ingredients/colors, preservatives, chemicals, and "food-like" substances. This will also be a way to detox my body from all of those things; especially addictive ingredients such as coffee, tea, sugar, and alcohol.
When I feel like the task is too great, I quickly remind myself of what God sacrificed for me on the cross and I gain more will power.

The next few weeks, I will be posting details, recipes and photos of what I am eating. The posts will not be long and complicated because I have 5 children right now (2 foster sons). I've read that it is very helpful to focus on a few things you would like to see transformed. I chose to focus on my attitude and my relationship with my husband.  Hopefully, I will be able to blog about the amazing changes that will be taking place with my own attitude and my marriage.

Lastly, I will list what you CAN and CANNOT eat if you choose to begin the Daniel Fast.

Foods to Eat:
